Meet Glorida, our newest Dental Assistant at Scarsdale Dental Spa.

Working here was just a job when I first started; it wasn't a career in mind. After working at Scarsdale Dental Spa for some time, I was inspired by Dr. Greene to want to become a dentist. I am currently enrolled in Lehman College to graduate with a degree in chemistry and go off to dental school. Someday I hope to work as partners with Dr. Greene. I love to read and I love science more than anything.

Meet Daniel Jacobs, DMD, DDS of Scarsdale Dental Spa

Daniel Jacobs, DMD, DDS - Practice Associate

Professionally Speaking

Dr. Daniel Jacobs was born and raised about 90 miles north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended college at the University of Pittsburgh. He began his dental studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and then completed a General Practice Residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. After completion of his program, Dr. Jacobs joined a private practice in Philadelphia as his wife completed her dental training at the University of Pennsylvania. He followed his wife to Boston as she completed her endodontic residency, and practiced in a small town called Medford, just a few minutes outside of Boston. Dr. Jacobs is knowledgeable in all aspects of general practice and current technology, and he is actively involved with local and national dental associations.

Dr. Jacobs is enthusiastic about his profession, and committed to ensuring all of her patients have a comfortable and successful dental experience. His desire to always learn about both new technology and techniques keep him on the cutting edge of the dental world.

Daniel - Personally

Dr. Jacobs currently lives in Manhattan with his wife Arielle and their dog Lola. He enjoys fitness, golf, fine food and wine, and watching both college and professional sports.

Meet one of our newest staff members at Scarsdale Dental Spa, Sonia Duarte, Concierge.

Sonia is responsible for scheduling patients and assists with the everyday front desk functions. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts with bachelors in Business Administration. Sonia has been in the restaurant business for nine years so as a newcomer to the business of dentistry; she is excited to share her customer service skills in a new environment.

Meet Brianna of Scarsdale Dental Spa's

Meet one of our newest staff members at Scarsdale Dental Spa, Brianna Hines, dental assistant.

Brianna was born and raised in Queens, NY. She is pursuing her undergraduate degree at Iona College as a Biology major. She aspires to be an orthodontist in the future and is dedicating her time at Scarsdale Dental Spa in order to learn and practice the skills she will need to excel in dentistry. When she's not studying, she enjoys dancing, laughing, and hanging out with her friends and sorority sisters.

Dr. David Greene of Scarsdale Dental Spa Receives CE Award

Dr. David Greene of Scarsdale Dental Spa was among an elite group of dental professionals to be presented with a CE Award. The New York State Dental Association and the New York State Dental Foundation recognize Dr. David Greene for completing 1000 hours of continuing dental education achievement representing dedication to the profession and patient care.

Meet Sabiya M. Amanat, DDS of Scarsdale Dental Spa

Scarsdale Dental Spa is pleased to introduce you to our new Pediatric Specialist Sabiya M. Amanat, DDS. With over 10 years of experience, “Dr. Sabiya” will be heading up our Pediatric division. 

Dr. Sabiya is specifically trained to provide dental services to all ages of children from infants to teens. She is committed to helping children learn how to care for their teeth and loves to spend time getting to know each patient, so your child feels that they have a friend who just happens to be their dentist.

Dr. Sabiya received her BA degree from Barnard College in 1992 with a major in Anthropology and continued her education by obtaining her dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 1996. Immediately following her dental education she obtained her specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Long Island Jewish Schneider’s Children’s Hospital in 1998 with an emphasis on children, special needs children and medically compromised children. In addition to private practice, Dr. Sabiya was an attending at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine from 1999 to 2008 and an active member of the dental school admissions committee from 2003-2007.

Dr. Sabiya was born and raised in Long Island and has resided in Manhattan since college. She is the mother of three boys. As a dentist she understands the importance of early prevention and detection of caries and as a mother she understands the busy life style of raising children in the city, questions of when to bring a child to the dentist and the thoughts many parents feel, “My child will never be able to sit in the chair.” Dr. Sabiya will teach your child that dental visits are part of a healthy routine and still talk to you as a concerned parent with your questions. Young patients are encouraged to express themselves freely while we count and clean teeth. It sets up the beginnings of a wonderful dentist/patient relationship. By starting tooth/mouth exams early, it may lead to detection of early stages of tooth decay that can be easily treated.

Dr. Sabiya is dedicated to providing pediatric dental care in a warm nurturing environment and providing the best treatment for your child. 

On a personal note, Dr. Sabiya enjoys traveling, running, and spending time with her 3 sons on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Dr. Vermani is a graduate of Boston University with degrees in General Dentistry and Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Dr. Monika Vermani joined Scarsdale Dental Spa in 2008. Dr. Vermani has 10 years of experience practicing general dentistry in Connecticut and New York. Prior to joining Scarsdale Dental Spa, Dr. Vermani spent 8 years as a dentist in two private dental practices in Connecticut. Dr. Vermani uses her many years of experience to provide her patients state of the art dentistry and her gentle touch enhances the truly relaxing experience in the spa.

On a personal note, Dr. Vermani enjoys cooking and traveling with her husband and two little children.

On our previous blog posts we told you a little about our Smiles For Kids program but today we would like to also remind you that “Smiles For Kids” supplies educational materials on a variety of dental subjects to parents and guardians, so community children can get the knowledge they deserve. The staff at Scarsdale Dental Spa also attends area schools each February to support a grass roots educational campaign. Many parents have praised these efforts by visiting our office themselves and telling our team what great brushing and eating habits these school programs have developed in their children.

The Spa also encourages other individuals and organizations who wish to support “Smiles For Kids” to contribute any available resources to continue these efforts.

Meet Joyce Green, Practice Director of Scarsdale Dental Spa

Joyce is an entrepreneur and business consultant, with more than 25 years experience in the dental field. In addition, Joyce received Reiki Master level in 2006. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

Joyce Greene - Personally

Joyce is married to Dr. David Greene, the practice's Executive Director. She has myriad personal interests including interior decorating, cooking, entertaining, gardening, movies, collecting antiques, her cats Vinnie and Louie, and especially ballroom dancing (which is how she met David.) Her special joy is spending time with family and friends.

Joyce is an involved community member, theatre contributor, and supporter of women's organizations to stop domestic violence, animal shelters, The Lord's Pantry (an organization that supplies meals for HIV and AIDS patients in all of Westchester County) and "Smiles for Kids."

Joyce Greene, a local business owner here in Scarsdale, is always looking for ways to help people. She especially likes to help children.

Once again, Scarsdale Dental Spa is opening its doors to community children who don’t currently have access to the proper dental care. Each year, to honor National Dental Health Month, through its “Smiles For Kids” program, the unique practice provides dental care and services in addition to education to those families whose children cannot afford to visit a dentist regularly.

It is very important to nurture children in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable. Effective learning occurs during activities which children perceive as fun and non-threatening. Many adult patients don’t get the care they need as a result of early childhood dental experiences.
